The AceEm Story

For many of us 2020 presented plenty of opportunity amidst the disruption, and after a very long time in corporate leadership roles that required a long commute and meant missing quite a few of my kids events, the time was right to consider a change in career.

After being involved at Silverdale Tennis Club and helping out with coaching the juniors for a number of years, this career change originated from continued requests for tennis programs, and more private coaching at the club. And so after asking a number of those in the industry who had been there and done it before, I hit up friends and family for business name ideas and ‘AceEm’ was born.

Rochelle & I have long talked about starting a business that family could work on and in together. And luckily we have 3 sports mad boys - Carter, Jackson and Hudson - who have no shortage of enthusiasm to play the game, provide direct feedback on whether something we are doing is “sick” (this means awesome??) or “stink”, and hopefully be the cute and x-factor of marketing material along with any one else from the club and local schools who is keen.

And so why tennis? Everyone can play tennis, no matter age or ability, and my coaching philosophy is to create a safe environment where everyone in our community can benefit from all that sport has to offer.

It is no secret that while AceEm is getting up and running, we are making things up as we go, with the aim being to do so in response to those at the heart of what we are doing. We are always seeking feedback from our community, our club and our tennis players, so that we can provide sessions that people look forward to.
